Sylvia really should be kicking off her fine Baby Coach pumps, pushing up her CD shades on her head, delving into her roomy Gucci Tote bag and fishing out her French Alter Ego book while fingering her fine bone china cup of cafe latte. BUT these days, she's pumping her BMW 1 series, running around industrial estates, waiting in endless queues at Ikea, munching unceremoniously on Swedish hotdogs and ruining her just-painted mani-pedi. Living in Singapore does that to you. You get competitive, energetic and edgy. It is in the air, she believes, the constant tumultous weather, all charged up with electrifying electrons. Does this shed some light on why there are so many entrepreneurs and start-up firms here? If so, she's no exception.

When he was 18 years old, Guus felt too young to enter University in his native country of the Netherlands. So he spent half a year in Ghana instead, teaching English at a primary school. Ever since, he has been gripped by the culture bug, and so it's no wonder that after graduating in 2005, he ended up half way around the world in Singapore. After his first job as an intercultural training specialist, he founded Yago.sg. If you're looking to learn a language, Yago is the place to compare and review language courses, schools and learning methods. In descending order of fluency, Guus speaks and understands Dutch, English, Mandarin, German, Spanish and French.
